VIVA Transcription Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month with Success Stories

- New clients, technology enhancements and client satisfaction top the list -

SANTA CRUZ, CA (October 9, 2009) – VIVA Transcription, a leading provider in medical transcription services and a Hispanic-owned business, today announced several milestones it reached during September 15 and October 15 – Hispanic Heritage Month, as declared by President Barack Obama.  In a prepared statement, Manuel Prado, President of VIVA Transcription, indicated that VIVA:

  • Upgraded the technology behind its Web-based application, allowing clients to manage their transcriptions in a simpler, faster and more secure platform.
  • Added 50 new practices in the third quarter of 2009, expanding its growing family to 450+ satisfied clients.
  • Would be recommended to a colleague by 92% of its clients in an independent study recently conducted.

“As the proud chief executive of a minority-owned business, I am thrilled to take part in the celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month and to highlight some of our top accomplishments during this time period,” stated Prado. “Hispanic-owned businesses play a key role in the growth of the United States economy and I am fortunate to run an organization that helps to give something back to this great country.”  According to the most recent U.S. Census Bureau statistics, there were more than 1.2 million Hispanic-owned businesses in the country.

In September 1968, Congress authorized President Lyndon B. Johnson to proclaim National Hispanic Heritage Week, which was observed during the week that included Sept. 15 and Sept. 16. The observance was expanded in 1988 to a month-long celebration (Sept. 15–Oct. 15). The United States celebrates the culture and traditions of those who trace their roots to Spain, Mexico and the Spanish speaking nations of Central America, South America and the Caribbean. September 15 was chosen as the starting point for the celebration because it is the anniversary of the independence of five Latin American countries: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. In addition, Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence days on Sept. 16 and Sept. 18, respectively.
